Shipping Information
How our axolotl are shipped..
We take great care to ensure that all of our axolotls reach their new homes safely! We use high quality boxes with Styrofoam lining for insulation. Each axolotl will be placed in an appropriately sized fish bag with enough water to remain safely submerged at all times. The bag is then carefully double bagged to prevent any leaks during their journey. We use recyclable paper and biodegradable packing peanuts to make sure the axolotls are secure in their box and will not be jostled around. Cooling packs are used as needed. Finally, we carefully label the box so the carriers will know to handle them with care.

Shipping Basics
We offer UPS Next Day Air all year round and recommend it as the preferred shipping option. During the cooler seasons, we also offer UPS 2nd Day Air. Both these options include tracking and our live arrival guarantee. We use fixed rate pricing for our axolotl shipments which covers the shipping cost for up to two axolotls. For shipments of three or more axolotls, contact us for an estimate!

To prevent weekend delays, axolotls are only shipped on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Two day shipments will only be sent out on Mondays and Tuesdays. Before shipping, we fast our axolotls for several days depending on their age. Juveniles will be fasted 1-2 days and adults 2-4 days. Fasting reduces the amount of waste that accumulates in the axolotl's water during their trip. Too much waste can cause unnecessary stress and ammonia burns. Because of the designated shipping days and fasting schedule, shipments usually are sent out the week after they are ordered. We will send you an email after we receive your order with the planned shipping and delivery dates!

We may need to delay or reschedule shipments due to weather. For the safety of the animals, we will not ship axolotls if the temperature during the journey is over 90​°F or under 35°F. We also do not ship during extreme weather events. We will notify you via email if there is any expected delays. You may also contact us if you require an alternative shipping date for any reason!
Live Arrival Guarantee
We take every opportunity to ensure the health and safety of our axolotls during their shipment process. While we have never lost an axolotl in the mail, it is still a possibility. Because of this, we provide a Live Arrival Guarantee.
In the rare case of DOA (Dead on Arrival), we will offer a refund for the full price of the animal or replacement of equal value. Shipping fees are non-refundable and are not included in the Live Arrival Guarantee.
To qualify for this refund, the buyer must contact us with a video of the deceased animal in the sealed shipping bag within one hour of the delivery time. We highly recommend recording the unboxing in case of a refund request is needed.
After one hour of delivery, Frazier Creek Axolotls is no longer responsible for the wellbeing of the animal as the temperature and water parameters are no longer in our control.
